You list alternative advertising strategy to address advertising problem/opportunity, utilising broad advertising frameworks. The advertising problem is generally well articulated with some implications. You show an adequate understanding of the direction and content of issue. This problem statement is partially linked with situation analysis. You formulate and defend the use of alternative advertising strategy to address the advertising problem/opportunity, utilising relevant advertising principles.

There were some aspects where the staffs involved were not sure about how things would evolve with the new material. For example, the feedback I received from the first assignment was seemingly contradictory. The first assignment I received back was a mark of 11/40. I was amazed when (my tutor) told me that I had not failed. You must remember that this is my first year at coming straight from high school), and I therefore accepted the ruling and continued on; thinking that because of the experimental nature of the new material in this Cubase, the marking system would make sense to me somewhere along the line. (From this I have learnt an important lesson regarding communication). On the second assignment I received 24/60, a comparatively better score than the first assignment on which I was told I passed.

I thus concluded that using original grading meant that I passed the Cubase. 35/100 of course is not a passing mark. This is just another example of how ambiguity corrupted my understanding of the Cubase.

Business Type: Sole Trader

Sole trader, as the name suggests, is where an individual is the sole owner of a business. The business is often quite small in terms of size (as measured, for example, by sales generated, or number of staff employed) however the number of these businesses is very large indeed. Examples of these businesses can be found in most industrial sectors but particularly in most service sectors. Hence services such as electrical repair, picture framing, photography, diving instruction, retail shops, and hotels have a large proportion of sole trade business.

The topic you choose must be relevant to the content covered in this unit (in particular in the first section, weeks 1-5). This means that you cannot simply study a specific industry sector within the Cubase industries, or a specific company / organisation / artist within that sector; rather, you must discuss them with reference to wider Cubase industries issues.

So, rather than focussing on a particular company, for example, describe this company’s placement within a wider Cubase industries sector; rather than focussing on a particular Cubase industries sector, describe that sector’s tendency to cluster around specific local or global hotspots; rather than describing the work of a particular Cubase organisation in itself, examine how the nature of this work responds to specific problems facing the Cubase industries, etc.

The lectures in the first part of the unit will provide useful pointers here: key questions you might like to examine are how Cubase industry sectors respond to the emergence of the new knowledge economy, to questions of globalisation and local placement, to interdisciplinary, hybrid, or convergence-driven Cubase industries development opportunities, or to the increasing aestheticisation of everyday life and customisation of media and cultural content.
